Melinda and her husband Bill came to Seattle in the early 70's as graduate students. It was here she met Joy Jackson. The two became immediate friends when they discovered they liked the same sci-fi author. During this period of 17 years, Melinda and Bill studied French, Spanish and Russian language and literature, brought forth two daughters, and received two PhDs. After Bill became a Systems Analyst for the Department of State, the family moved every 3 or 4 years for the next 17 years, living in Paris twice, Mexico City, Charleston, S.C., Moscow, and Mumbai. Returning to Seattle in 2005 and moving back into the house they'd rented out, Melinda discovered Joy was deep into radio plays and eagerly took part. She especially likes the dynamics of working with an ensemble, getting the dialog 'just so', and trying on different foreign accents. As a writer, Melinda has contributed several original works to the ensemble repertoire; an original romantic comedy, Cupid in a Box and her adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's Kim.
